CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn is a leading not-for-profit organisation with a presence in the community for over 60 years providing a range of services. Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking an Art Tutor to be a part of the Hands On Studio team and community.

The Role


As a casual Art Tutor, you will be required to work with minimal supervision under the guidelines of the Art Program, within a person centred, Active Support, Recovery and SRV (Social Role Valorisation) approaches. You will be expected to provide direct tuition to people with an intellectual, physical, psychosocial disability or multiple disabilities. Assistance will be available when required, however staff will be required to use their creative expertise, knowledge, skills and judgement in relation to their classes and the needs of the students.

Selection Criteria


  • Art Degree or relevant professional experience working in the arts.
  • Relevant experience working with people with a disability or in the community or education sectors.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the issues of imparting art skills and assisting students with a disability to achieve their artistic potential in the wider art community.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of working with people from a person centred approach.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and establish a rapport with people.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
To be considered for this role you will be also required to hold:
  • a current drivers licence
  • a current First Aid Certificate, and
  • a Working with Vulnerable People’s Card.
You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check.
