Assistant Project Accountant

CatholicCare Canberra & Goulburn is a leading not-for-profit organisation with a presence in the community for over 60 years providing a range of services. We are looking for an enthusiastic Finance Officer to join our dynamic team in the CFO Office as our services grow.

The Role

This role will suit a motivated and high-performing management accountant who is able to work independently and has strong attention to detail. The right person will be able to confidently engage with various stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist and prepare monthly financial accounting journals, work papers and reconciliations.
  • Financial reporting for various projects.
  • Month end reporting.
  • Supporting the CFO office and carry out adhoc duties as required.

The person

The ideal person will be an experienced person with proven Australian work experience in an accounting environment. You will have excellent attention to detail, possess good organisational skills and be a quick learner. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are equally important as being able to work within the team will be critical to your success in this role.

Selection Criteria

  • Degree in Accounting/Business/Commerce.
  • Professional qualification CA/CPA or have strong progression and close to completion.
  • You must have at least 4 years or more work experience in an organisation domiciled in Australia with a similar accounting role.
  • The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines for various task.
  • Intermediate level of skills in Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Be a quick learner, familiarity with accounting processes, excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
  • Be compliant with policies and procedures and perform duties in line with KPI's.
  • Hold a current driver’s license.
  • Be willing to undergo a police check and apply for a working with vulnerable people card.
